This almost made me anxious reading only because I totally relate to this! My binding workspaces is a complete MESS right now, but I’ve been learning to accept this clean 🔄 messy cycle. But I completely agree about the stark contrast between the feel of walking into a messy creative space vs a refreshing, clean slate space (where you can just sit down and immediately get into and stay in the flow state!)
I think I really need to get it organised though, so things have a place to go back to. There's having to tidy up regularly, and then there's just... chaos!
It’s lovely to always acknowledge things that bring you joy. These candid words stuck to me being someone who occupies the whole desk when working. I see it as entering a flow.
Then towards the end of the day, as someone whose mind can be impacted by visual chaos, I go back to a photo of my cleaned desk and put things back where they are. It becomes a winding down ritual eventually.
I love that idea, though as a naturally messy person it isn't that straightforward. It is genuinely difficult to have a place for things and to return them there! But I could certainly do better than I currently manage...

I think the process you framed as ‘mess’ instead of ‘disorganised’ lends itself to be a temporary uncertainty yet it can be one of potential.
